Well, I may not be starving but I’m certainly not rich so I save cans and paint them. There’s not a whole lots more satisfying for me than painting cans. The acrylic paint is under a dollar and lasts me for months, and the cans are basically free (sort of). So essentially I’m making something beautiful out of almost nothing and I love that. Not only that but the surface is so smooth and the colors come out brilliant. Here is my latest can.
In this picture-3 coats of pink acrylic paint for base. Rainbow colors over it. Finish with 2 coats of clear coat for protection.
Those are so pretty.
That is gorgeous! I reuse a lot of containers but rarely get around to making them pretty. But recently I washed out an oregano shaker-bottle and filled it with baking soda, which I use as scouring powder when washing dishes, but I couldn’t get all the glue from the old label to come off, so I covered the bottle with a small piece of wrapping paper (which was free–some charity sent it to us). Now it looks very pretty and ties together the bright green of the bottle cap with the pink color scheme of my kitchen. It is making me happy! Maybe I should decorate things more often….
Thank you!! It is really fun to take things that would have been thrown away and not only save them but make them into something pretty as well. Also, having a second child really eats away at the extra cash to pay for canvases so I do what I have to. I never thought of using baking soda for scrubbing dishes, that’s a great idea. Thanks for stopping by!!
Cute! We reuse tin cans, too, but tend to just leave the labels on. I love the idea of bright rainbow paint. And thanks for contributing to our hop!
That is a neat idea. We save cans and then screw them onto a board and hand stuff from them. Sometimes we paint the first, but normally just plain old silver.
